Vote Now!

Click on the link above and vote for Lyla (my niece’s cat in NYC ... guess that would make her my grand cat niece). Anyway, she doesn’t know why Lyla’s pic in on this site, guess they found her pics at flickr.com. But, might as well make her famous!

I voted and didn’t have to register for anything and didn’t’ get any pop-ups ... so it's safe!

Not a Geek After All

OK ... I was watching a TV show the other night,"The Big Bang Theory". If you've never seen, it is about the four mega Geeks that are friends and how they deal with normally intelligent people. It's really funny! Anyway, they mentioned "Schrödinger's Cat". Well, I've heard about this cat at other times before, but didn't have a clue what they were talking about ... so ... I decided to Google it.

OK, now my head hurts ... is he dead, is he alive? ... does anyone have some Excedrin Migraine? Click here to see what I mean!

Me? A Geek?

Our IT guy was in here a few weeks ago and was having lunch with us. We were all sitting around the table eating, discussing freeware and other computer interest and I made some comment about a website for freeware ... Our IT guy spoke up and said "You're geekier than you look!"

I think that was a compliment ... I'm taking it that way, anyway!

Things To Ponder Today

  1. A day without sunshine is like ... night.

  2. On the other hand, you have different fingers.

  3. 42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

  4. Remember, half the people you know are below average.

  5. He who laughs last thinks slowest.

  6. Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.

  7. When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

  8. How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?

  9. Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

  10. What happens if you get scared half to death, twice?

  11. Inside every older person is a younger person wondering, 'What the heck happened?'

  12. Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost. The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this day.The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as Sinko de Mayo ... LOL

Always the Mama

I know I've talked about my little dog Puff. Well, let me tell you a little background about how he came to be.

About 8 years ago, when Courtney was 10, she and Gene went to "look" at a Corvette (you know, he is a Corvette man). This trip, however, they came back with a very shaggy, matted, little 2 year old Maltese. Come to find out, that was the intent of the trip all along ... to get COURTNEY a dog that she could hold and love and take care of!

I found out a little later that Maltese dogs "pick" who they like the best. Well about a week after he came to live with us, he "picked" me! No matter where I am in the house, even if I am all the way upstairs at the far ends ... he finds ME ... if he is hungry ... if he needs water ... if he needs to go outside to ... well ... you know. I'm the Mama, even with the dog! Wasn't this supposed to be Courtney's dog?

Oh well, I hear dogs have a great sense of character in humans ... looks like it's true!
p.s. Happy May Day!
